29th July 2014 – Forth 4 Carluke 3

Forth will play Lesmahagow in the final of the Clydesdale Cup at Kingshill Park next Monday after seeing off Carluke Rovers tonight in a seven goal thriller. The visitors just edged the first half and led through a neat Ryan Smillie finish but the Wanderers came storming back after the interval and equalised thanks to a piledriver from Chris Lennon. Lennon was then brought down in the box and Jamie Lindsay converted the resultant penalty before fantastic trickery and a cool finish from Andrew Gilchrist made it 3-1 to Forth. Craig Stark then reduced the deficit with a close range header from a corner, but Dean McLean looked to have sealed it with an 86th minute shot to put the Wanderers 4-2 up.However, Stark ensured a nervy final few minutes for the home support when he scored an 88th minute header but Forth held on to book their place in the final.

27th July 2014 – Congratulations to Jim Paton

The club would like to congratulate former manager of the Wanderers Jim Paton who represented Forth during the Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games. Jim managed the Wanderers between 1976 and 1978 and led us to the 5th round of the Scottish Junior cup in season 1976/77, where we narrowly lost to Shettleston by a goal to nil.

26th July 2014 – Forth 1 Stoneyburn 1

Forth drew 1-1 with Stoneyburn in a feisty encounter at Kingshill Park this afternoon. The visitors took the lead on 9 minutes before Chris McGroarty equalised on the 20 minute mark. Despite losing Martin Harty, who was dismissed just prior to half-time, the Wanderers looked comfortable throughout the match and again played some excellent football in spells. New keeper Ali McGhee made his Wanderers debut and pulled off some fine saves when called upon.

25th July 2014 – Sponsor a Wanderer!

The Wanderers are offering the opportunity for individuals or businesses to sponsor a player for the season. The cost is £25 and sponsors names, and links to any websites, will be displayed here and in the match programme. In addition, if desired, a signed photo of/with the sponsored player can be provided as a memento. All monies received go directly into the running of Forth Wanderers. For example, if we can sponsor every player in the squad this season, this will cover the referees fees for the league games. Interested parties can make contact through this site or with any Committee member.

22nd July 2014 – Forth 5 Cambusnethan Talbot 0

The Wanderers began their pre-season games with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Cambusnethan Talbot at Dalziel Park this evening. First half goals from Chris Lennon and Jamie Lindsay gave Forth a 2-0 interval advantage which they added to after the break through goals from Andrew Gilchrist, a Jamie Lindsay penalty and another from Chris Lennon. Forth played some excellent passing football throughout and the score could have been greater but for a good performance from the Talbot keeper. Manager Chris McGroarty gave debuts to recent signings from Newmains Jim Dick and Kristopher Dick.

18th July 2014 – No Game on Saturday

The scheduled game against Forth Amateurs on Saturday has been cancelled as our opponents informed us they couldn’t raise a team. We were unable to schedule an alternative at short notice, so the first pre-season game will be against Cambusnethan Talbot at Dalziel Park on Tuesday night.

There have also been four confirmed departures from last seasons squad, forwards Yamikani Misanjo and Bryan Felvus, goalkeeper JC Hutchison, who has signed for Rutherglen Glencairn, and full back Marc Howson who has signed for league rivals Rossvale.
