Newmains 0 Forth 0
The Wanderers shared the spoils with Newmains in a goalless draw played at Wishaw Sports Centre on Saturday.
Newmains began brightly and created the first real chance of the game in the 8th minute but the ball was blasted wildly over. Forth eventually played their way into the game and Barry Canning broke in from the left and shot over on 17 minutes. Martin Harty, who was prominent at this stage, then went close when his chip was cleared off the line by a Newmains defender. Craig Crawford was next to try his luck with a neat turn and shot but the keeper saved. Chris McGroarty then headed narrowly wide from a Barry Canning cross before Craig Crawford headed over from a McGroarty corner to keep the game goalless at the break.
Newmains went close at the start of the second half with a looping header then only an excellent save from JC Hutchison in the Forth goal kept the scoreline blank after a neat header called him into action.. Newmains created a further couple of chances at this point but both went wide of the post.
Forth brought on McKenzie for Stevenson as they tried to get back into the game and from his free kick, McGroarty appeared to be fouled in the box but play was waved on and the resultant shot from Traynor was saved. Martin Harty then played in Barry Canning and his shot looked every inch a goal until the Newmains keeper got down to his right to pull off a fantastic save. The final chance of the match fell to Newmains who caught Forth on the counter but despite being clean through on the keeper the number 11 pulled his shot wide.
A clean sheet but two points dropped by the Wanderers who face Vale of Leven at Kingshill Park next.
